Claridge's Speakeasy
London
About
Hidden within Claridge’s, this speakeasy is conceived as a place of mystery, intimacy, and sensory depth—where time slows and shadows take centre stage. Inspired by the Japanese concept of nigiriguchi (a narrow, secretive entrance) and the meditative beauty of In Praise of Shadows, the space embraces the imperfect, the unseen, and the quietly dramatic. Textures are layered—lacquers, yakisugi wood, oxidised metals, and kimono silks—crafted to absorb rather than reflect light. The atmosphere is cinematic and immersive, with soft acoustics, curated darkness, and a palette of aged patinas and poetic imperfection. The result is a space where reverie and ritual meet, inviting guests to lose themselves in the experience.
